LINEUP NOTES, pres. by UnitedHealthcare: FC Dallas vs. Seattle Sounders | 8.18.21

2021 Lineup Notes

FRISCO, Texas - Head coach Luchi Gonzalez makes three changes to his starting lineup as FC Dallas takes on Seattle Sounders FC for the second and final time this season at 7:30PM at Toyota Stadium. Here's the lineup notes, pres. by UnitedHealthcare.

Bressan is Back
Defender Bressan returns from his yellow card accumulation suspension and is immediately back in the starting lineup. He comes in for Matt Hedges who is still gaining fitness after a hip injury kept him out for several weeks. Bressan lines up next to Nkosi Tafari in central defense and will be tasked with keeping a close eye on Seattle forward Raul Ruidiaz who leads the MLS Golden Boot race with 13 goals.

Acosta in Midfield
Midfielder Bryan Acosta is in the starting lineup for the first time since July 8 after joining Honduras for the Gold Cup last month. The 27-year-old started in all 11 games for Dallas before leaving for the Gold Cup so his return to the midfield is a welcome one. Acosta starts in a double pivot in front of Dallas' backline alongside Edwin Cerrillo.

Jáder for Paxton
Jáder Obrian starts at right wing in place of Paxton Pomykal who’s out for this game with a short-term knee injury. The Colombian is tied for Dallas’ second-leading scorer with three goals on the season and will play opposite Szabolcs Schön on FCD’s flanks.

ElMedkhar
Winger Kalil ElMedkhar is available on the bench for the seventh time this season. The rookie from the University of Kentucky has made two sub appearances and has also played six games for North Texas SC, scoring two goals and adding two assists in USL League One. ElMedkhar was named to the USL1 Team of the Week for his previous performance in North Texas’ 4-0 win over North Carolina FC last Saturday.
