2020: Acosta appeared in 11 matches (started 10) and recorded 759 minutes in 2020. He had two assists for the year. The first assist came vs. Minnesota United on August 27 in the 11th minute. The second assist came vs. Sporting Kansas City on September 2 in the 9th minute.
2019: Made his FC Dallas and MLS debut in the 2019 season opener vs. New England Revolution on March 2. He scored two goals and one assist in 26 regular season appearances (23 starts). He scored his first goal on March 9 against LA Galaxy. He scored his second goal of the season, a game-winner, on April 20 against Atlanta United FC in the 84th minute. Recorded one assist in the final match of the season against Sporting Kansas City on Oct. 6. Earned MLS Team of the Week honors for Week 2 and 31. Made his MLS playoff debut on Oct. 19 vs. Seattle Sounders and scored the game-tying goal in the 82nd minute to push FC Dallas to extratime.
Started his professional career with Honduran first division team, Real España in 2013. He appeared in 129 matches in four seasons, scoring 19 goals. He was part of the team that won the 2013 Apertura that qualified them for the 2014-2015 Concacaf Champions League, where he appeared in four games.
In 2017, Acosta signed with Spanish second-division team Tenerife and has appeared in 47 games in two seasons, tallying five goals and six assists in 3,437 minutes. Acosta has also appeared in the Copa del Rey competition with Tenerife for the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 seasons, scoring one goal in four matches overall.
He was a part of the 2018 World Cup Qualifying team for Honduras with five appearances as Los Catrachos missed out on a World Cup bid in the intercontinental playoff with Australia. Acosta has amassed 41 caps for Honduran National Team since his first call-up in 2013. He scored his second goal for the team vs El Salvador during the 2019 Gold Cup, marking the third goal during the match.
