Santiago Mosquera hit Roland Lamah on a quick free kick, then Lamah found Cannon around 25 yards out at the corner of the 18-yard box. Cannon did the rest and beat defender Brett Levis to the inside and ripped a left-footed shot past Brian Rowe to the far post, giving FC Dallas a 1-0 lead late in the first half.

It was a special moment for the 19-year-old, but unfortunately after the team conceded two late goals, the moment was bittersweet.

“It felt great at the moment, but it doesn’t matter if we don’t get the three points at the end of day,” he said.

Cannon had another shot on frame in the 57th minute that created a corner kick. The fullbacks for FCD pushed higher than usual, and it created extra chances for FC Dallas.

“Oscar wanted us to create the 2v1 situations to create uncomfortable situations and we ended up doing that,” Cannon said.
