Victor Ulloa started for FCD in the Texas Derby on Saturday, and it marked the 100th MLS start in his career. He signed a Homegrown contract in 2011 and has had an up-and-down career ever since.

This season, Ulloa has been able to find consistency and has been an integral part of FC Dallas’ successful 2018 season. Saturday night was no different, and his performance made his career milestone even sweeter.

“Happy, absolutely happy and proud of myself and all the work that I’ve done,” Ulloa said. “Nobody has given anything to me. I think that I’ve earned every single game that I’ve played and just happy feelings and emotional, happy for me and my family. They actually got to come down and watch me play and play in my 100th MLS start. Just absolutely pleased. Hopefully I play many more games, but happy to have reached the 100-mark.”

FCD’s lone goal scorer, Matt Hedges, has played with Ulloa for seven of his eight year in MLS. He said he is happy for Ulloa, who has been a friend for a long time in Dallas.

“It’s fantastic,” Hedges said. “I mean, he was out of the team, and he’s back in the team. To get 100 appearances in that way is great. The shift he put in today was fantastic for 100.”

Marco Ferruzzi said Ulloa represents the FC Dallas Academy since he came up from its system and has made a name for himself on his hometown club.

“He’s a real testament to our club, to our youth program, to the academy, to everything,” Ferruzzi said. “He represents the club very, very well. He grew throughout the game, got better and stronger, a little indicative of his entire career with Dallas. Someone who just continues to grow and find ways to be on the field and have success, so very happy.”
