FC Dallas Hosts Military and First Responders Night on Saturday, September 11

FC Dallas honors military and first responder heroes while also recognizing the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks

Frisco, TX (Sept. 7, 2021) – In honor of military and first responder heroes, FC Dallas is hosting Military and First Responders Night when it takes the pitch against the San Jose Earthquakes in a match presented by Toyota on Saturday, September 11, 2021. The match will feature events and initiatives to celebrate the heroes who serve our communities throughout the year.
 
Match Initiatives
FC Dallas, along with Major League Soccer, will recognize the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks:

  • All players will wear a remembrance jersey patch that features iconic New York City imagery including the Twin Towers and Statue of Liberty
  • All teams will hold a moment of silence prior to kick to remember the lives lost because of the September 11 attacks

 
Toyota Hero of the Match 
Former U.S. Army Sergeant Daniel Ruppert will be honored as FC Dallas’ Toyota Hero of the Match. Following September 11, 2001, Sergeant Ruppert served in the U.S. Army from 1996-2004 and from 2010-12. His unit was one of the first deployed overseas following the September 11 attacks. Sergeant Ruppert also led the United States Special Operation Command’s Southeast Asia Anti-Terrorism team. His work led to the capture of Jafar Umar Talib, the head of the Indonesian Mujahideen Group.
 
Frisco Fire Department vs Frisco Police Department Penalty Kick Competition
At halftime of the match, the Frisco Fire Department will compete against the Frisco Police Department in a penalty kick competition. FC Dallas will donate $100 to both departments’ charity of choice for every penalty kick made, with a $100 minimum donation to both organizations. Toyota will match FC Dallas’ donation for each penalty kick made by both the police and fire departments. The winning team’s charity will also receive an additional $250 donation on behalf of FC Dallas.

FC Dallas has donated 100 tickets to the match to the following military and first responder organizations: 

  
FC Dallas-Branded Frisco Fire Truck 
The FC Dallas Frisco Fire truck will be on display in the north concourse providing fans of all ages the opportunity to see the vehicle up close.
