With FC Dallas’ 2025 season now at a close, it’s time to look back at some of the campaign’s best moments. Here, we’ll be reviewing and voting on the best goalkeeper saves from the year, courtesy of the three men who guarded FCD’s net over the last nine months: Michael Collodi, Maarten Paes and Jacob Jackson.
Below, you can watch five of their best saves and vote for your favorite HERE. If you have a different favorite save, please write it in on the voting form!
Maarten Paes vs. Seattle Sounders FC | April 12
Our first save comes from Dallas and Indonesia’s #1 Maarten Paes against the Seattle Sounders. Seattle midfielder Cristian Roldan received the ball roughly 30 yards out and unleashed a wicked, left-footed effort bound for the top corner. Instead, Paes demonstrated one of his trademark lateral diving saves to push the ball wide of the post – putting his 6-foot-3 frame to great use to prevent the Sounders from doubling their lead.
Maarten Paes vs. FC Cincinnati | May 28
Paes, who began the season as Dallas’ starter until a hamstring injury sidelined him, features here once again – this time at FC Cincinnati’s TQL Stadium. With the score tied at 2-2, Cincy mounted an attack when Kevin Denkey crossed for MLS veteran Kei Kamara. The striker made great contact with his header, nodding the ball downward in the direction of the side netting. Paes reacted quickly, going down to his right to parry the ball away from goal. Although Dallas conceded three goals on the night, this Paes save helped the club scrape a point on the road in a wild 3-3 draw.
Michael Collodi vs. Los Angeles FC | Aug. 23
The next save comes from Homegrown Michael Collodi who began the season as Paes’ backup before staking his claim as a starter down the stretch. With FCD and LAFC tied 1-1 in stoppage time at Toyota Stadium, the visitors searched for a winning goal through David MartÃnez. The Venezuelan international fashioned some space at the edge of Dallas’ penalty area before unleashing a curling effort destined for the side netting. But Collodi stepped up, making an acrobatic diving save with his fingertips to preserve the tie in the last action of the game.
Jacob Jackson vs. St. Louis CITY | Sept. 6
Our penultimate save comes from Jacob Jackson, who joined the club midseason as FCD’s third-choice keeper. Although initially buried in the depth chart, Jackson got his chance in St. Louis after Collodi was sent off early in the first half (Paes was unavailable due to injury) and immediately made his presence known. Ten-man Dallas faced 43 shots on the night but Jackson stepped up to make 11 saves, including this one where he reacted quickly to a deflection and scraped the ball off the goal line with mere inches to spare. Jackson’s heroics in net, as well as a Petar Musa goal, helped FCD earn an improbable point on the road.
Michael Collodi vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC | Oct. 18
Our final save is courtesy of Michael Collodi on the final day of the regular season. It was a do-or-die game with a playoff berth on the line and Dallas found themselves 2-1 up on the #1-seed-chasing Vancouver Whitecaps. With 15 minutes to go, Vancouver’s Jeevan Badwal pounced on a loose ball in the box and sent a powerful low shot in the direction of the bottom corner. Against all the odds, Collodi was able to get down quickly and push the attempt wide with the fingertips on his left hand. As the commentator says, it was a season-saving stop from Collodi to help Dallas earn all three points and a spot in the First Round of the MLS Cup playoffs.
