2025 Season

VOTE: FC Dallas Goal of the Year | 2025

11

FC Dallas’ 2025 season is done and dusted. In a season of immense change, performances were up and down but the club finished on a high note by making the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs with a thrilling Decision Day victory. While Dallas was eliminated in the First Round by second-seed Vancouver Whitecaps, there are still plenty of fun moments to look back and review - starting with the Goal of the Year.

Below are five nominations for FC Dallas' 2025 Goal of the Year. After reviewing, please cast your vote HERE. If your favorite goal isn't listed, please write it in on the voting form!

Anderson Julio vs. Houston Dynamo FC | Feb. 22

Our first goal nomination was also the first game-winner of the 2025 season. With the Texas Derby tied at 1-1, new signing Anderson Julio announced himself with a solo effort to give FC Dallas the victory over its biggest rival in the season opener.

The goal begins with Petar Musa winning the ball on the edge of his own box before unleashing Julio with a long ball into space behind the Dynamo’s backline. Julio used his trademark straight-line speed to outpace both defenders before touching the ball past the on-rushing goalkeeper to give himself an open look at goal. With just his second touch of the sequence, Julio placed the ball into the back of the empty net to secure Dallas’ first win in Houston since 2016. It took just four touches (two from Musa and two from Julio) for Dallas to advance the ball nearly 100 yards and secure the game-winning goal, making it a strong contender for Goal of the Year.

Logan Farrington vs. Minnesota United FC | July 4

Our next goal is courtesy of second-year forward Logan Farrington, who finished the year as FCD's third-top scorer. The play starts at midfield with Patrickson Delgado finding Petar Musa near the sideline. The Croatian beat his defender easily before swinging in an early cross for Farrington to chest down and control just inside Minnesota United’s box. With a defender on his back and a second one closing in, Farrington used a minor body feint to get the first defender off balance before cutting inside and striking the ball powerfully off the inside of the post to beat Dayne St. Clair. Although Dallas fell 2-1 in the game, Farrington’s special effort gave the home crowd something to cheer about on this July 4 celebration match.

Petar Musa vs. St. Louis CITY | Sept. 6

There was little doubt that Petar Musa, FC Dallas’ top scorer of 2025, would feature heavily on this list. The big Croatian scored 19 goals in all competitions (tying the club’s record) and few were better than his close-range strike against St. Louis CITY.

The move started with Dallas’ high press winning the ball deep in St. Louis’ final third. Patrickson Delgado capitalized on a loose touch from STL and the ball fell kindly to Christian Cappis who played a reverse pass to Musa in the box. From there, Musa took over. The 27-year-old took one touch to set himself before rifling a shot into the roof of the net, using pure power to beat star goalkeeper Roman Bürki at his near post. Not only was it a fantastic finish but Musa’s goal helped 10-man Dallas earn a crucial point on the road.

Petar Musa vs. Austin FC | Sept. 13

The Petar Musa and Logan Farrington goal-scoring connection was one of the keys to FC Dallas’ midseason turnaround. The duo scored 14 of the team’s final 25 goals and none were more impressive than this clever combination against in-state rivals Austin FC just 90 seconds into the first half.

It all started with a long pass from goalkeeper Jacob Jackson that eventually fell to the feet of Musa. After drawing two defenders to him, Musa played a quick pass to Farrington who held it just long enough for Musa to make his run before attempting an audacious backheel pass straight to Musa’s feet. Having been kept onside by the Austin defender on the near side, Musa faced goalkeeper Brad Stuver 1v1 and beat him with a low shot to the far post. The goal helped Dallas defeat Austin 2-0 and perfectly exemplifies the chemistry Musa and Farrington have developed over their two years together.

Patrickson Delgado vs. LA Galaxy | Oct. 4

The final goal we’ll review is a solo effort courtesy of Patrickson Delgado. The midfielder saw many long-range efforts denied by the frame of the goal throughout the season until he finally struck gold in the last home game of the regular season against the LA Galaxy.

The play begins when Christian Cappis dispossess Joseph Painstil in the Galaxy’s half, allowing Bernard Kamungo to collect the ball and feed it to Delgado roughly 25 yards from goal. With open space in front of him, the Ecuadorian had one thing on his mind and unleashed a powerful effort that flew in the far corner of the net – giving goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski no chance whatsoever. While it was his only goal of the campaign, it's one Delgado will surely remember for the rest of his career.
