STANDINGS: FC Dallas Takes Four-Point Conference Lead into Final Three Matches

FRISCO – After a 2-0 home win over Orlando City SC, FC Dallas expanded its first place lead over Sporting Kansas City and LAFC.


Sporting KC and LAFC both clinched spots in the playoffs this past weekend after picking up points.

Sporting KC had a chance to keep pace with FC Dallas, but played a draw at home vs. the LA Galaxy. Johnny Russell scored the tying goal for KC in the 83rd minute. It will next play Vancouver on October 17. The Galaxy are in seventh place after the draw, down one point to Real Salt Lake for the final playoff spot. The Galaxy do not play again until October 21.

LAFC picked up three big road points against Colorado Rapids on Saturday after a 3-0 win. Adama Diomande scored a brace for LAFC, his first goals since since early July. LAFC is now tied for second place in the conference with 53 points and will host the Houston Dynamo on Friday night.


Portland has a four-point lead over Seattle Sounders FC for fourth place and a first round home match. Portland defeated Real Salt Lake 4-1. The win was Portland's first win on the road since June 30, breaking a six match winless streak away from home.


Real Salt Lake currently holds the final playoff spot after its loss to Portland. RSL has two matches remaining, a home game against New England on October 18 before finishing the regular season on the road in Portland.

Seattle in fifth and still has four matches left, including a home match against the Houston Dynamo on Monday. After a nine-game win streak, the Sounders have only won one of their last three matches.
