CURRENT FORM
- FC Dalllas is coming off a dominant win over Sporting Kansas City at Children's Mercy Park. This is after a close match against Minnesota FC on July 13 and a friendly against Sevilla FC on the July 17th. Real Salt Lake is most recently coming off a draw against Minnesota FC at home, and will face Tigres on Wednesday before heading to Texas for the match on Saturday. Real Salt Lake hasn’t seen a streak of any sort since back to back wins at the end of June.
HOMEGROWN REMATCH
- Earlier in the year when FC Dallas faced Real Salt Lake we had just begun to see the emergence and impact of homegrown talent across the roster. As the season has progressed the homegrown presence on both teams has grown, as well as their impact. Real Salt Lake and FC Dallas currently are at the top of the league for the amount of homegrown players seeing playing time on their rosters for 2019. FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake tied at seven players in one game earlier this season.
SHUTOUT SHOWDOWN
- Jesse Gonzalez recorded another shutout this past week against Sporting Kansas City. Gonzalez’s defense in the goal has been key in FC Dallas’ style and success throughout the season. On the other side of the ball Real Salt Lake has goalkeeper Nick Rimando who has recorded nearly 150 shutouts throughout his career. The goalkeepers will be need to be at the top of their game on Saturday in order for these teams to continue to have a defensive dominance.
LEAGUES CUP BEGINS
- Real Salt Lake will be competing in their first League’s cup game on Wednesday night against Tigres UNAL at home before a quick turnaround to Texas. The Leagues cup began in 2019 and just announced that it will be expanding next year to include 16 teams.
NO TIME TO RELAX
- After FC Dallas’ win over Sporting Kansas City we heard multiple players, and head coach Luchi Gonzalez talk about the mentality of not letting up or relaxing after a win or even a goal. This has been a recurring theme throughout the season as FC Dallas worked through a busy stretch of games and continues to build and develop their identity and style. The mentality seems to be having a positive effect as the team continues to fight for the full 90 minutes.
