On the other side of the half, it was the newcomer Dominique Badji who answered back, leveling the game for FCD in the 52ndminute. Left back Marquinhos Pedroso started the play by sending in a cross from the flank. The pass was brought down brilliantly by Maxi Urruti in the box. The forward clipped the ball between two defenders after chesting the ball down to his feet. Michael Barrios ran on to the pass and clipped a ball into the six-yard box for Badji. The forward used his chest to redirect a shot past Seattle goalkeeper Stefan Frei to tie the match, 1-1.

Lodeiro would put Seattle up once again off a set piece in the 63rd minute, this time finding the net himself. The No. 10 sent a curling ball in from a low angle that slipped through the mass of bodies in front untouched and eluded Gonzalez to the far post.
