2021 Lineup Notes

FRISCO, Texas - Marco Ferruzzi names his second lineup as interim head coach for FC Dallas' match against Sporting KC tonight, Sept. 29 at 7PM at Toyota Stadium. Here's the lineup notes, presented by UnitedHealthcare.

Formation
Although the formation is initially a 4-3-3 with Ryan Hollingshead as a left winger and José Martínez has a left back, expect Dallas to shift into a 3-5-2 with a three-man backline of Martínez as a left center back, Bressan in the center and Nkosi Tafari on the right. Facundo Quignon and Bryan Acosta keep their roles as the two holding midfielders and they'll be flanked by wingbacks (Ryan Hollingshead and Ema Twumasi) on either side. Once again, Jesús Ferreira is tasked with linking the midfield to the attack in the No. 10 role.

Front Two
Dallas' front line will effectively consist of its two leading scorers, Ricardo Pepi (12 goals) and Jáder Obrian (8 goals). Pepi is used to leading the line as a lone striker which allows him to make runs in behind to stretch the opposition's backline. Now part of a strike partnership, Pepi will likely be asked to play with his back to goal more often to bring teammates into play while Obrian makes runs beyond him.

Hollingshead
Ryan Hollingshead makes his first appearance in four games after suffering a foot injury earlier this month. The veteran will play left wing back, a role that perfectly suits his strong attacking capabilities. Hollingshead will play opposite Ema Twumasi who returns to the right side after filling in on the right during Hollingshead's absence.
