FRISCO, Texas - Head coach Luchi Gonzalez makes one change to his lineup as FC Dallas takes on New York City FC tonight, Sept. 14 at 6:30PM. Here's the lineup notes, presented by UnitedHealthcare.
The only change from last weekend's match sees Nkosi Tafari return to the starting lineup in place of Matt Hedges. Tafari had started 16 games in a row until he was used as a substitute in Saturday's 1-1 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes. The 24-year-old Manhattan native will partner José Martínez in central defense.
The fullback pairing of Ema Twumasi and Justin Che performed well against San Jose and they'll get another shot tonight. For the first time in his career, Twumasi moved from right back to left to fill in for the injured Ryan Hollingshead and enjoyed a standout performance. On the other side, Che returned to the starting lineup for the first time since suffering a calf injury and delivered the assist for Ricardo Pepi with a pinpoint cross.
Goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer returns to the match day squad for the first time since mid August after missing three matches with a thigh injury. The Georgia native is on the bench backing up Phelipe who gets his fourth-consecutive start. Although listed as questionable in the FCD injury report prior to the match, Maurer should be ready to go if called upon mid game.
