LINEUP NOTES, pres. by UnitedHealthcare: FC Dallas vs. Minnesota United FC | 10.2.21

2021 Lineup Notes

FRISCO, Texas - Marco Ferruzzi names his third lineup as interim head coach for FC Dallas' match against Minnesota United FC tonight, Oct. 2 at 7PM at Toyota Stadium. Here's the lineup notes, presented by UnitedHealthcare.

Formation
Ferruzzi reverts to a 4-2-3-1 formation for tonight's match after fielding a 3-5-2 on Wednesday against Sporting Kansas City. Dallas played the first half against SKC with three center backs before changing to its more traditional four at the back system at halftime. Tonight, Ferruzzi opts to start the match with FCD's familiar 4-2-3-1, a sign that Dallas is looking to attack from the start and take the game to Minnesota early on.

Midfield
There's a new look in midfield tonight as Homegrowns Edwin Cerrillo and Brandon Servania start in place of Bryan Acosta and Facundo Quignon. Acosta is unavailable after picking up a red card last time out against SKC. It's Servania's sixth start of the season and Cerrillo's 11th. The duo will be tasked with protecting the backline and helping FCD transition from defense to attack.

Hedges
FC Dallas captain Matt Hedges starts alongside José Martínez after missing last match due to yellow card accumulation. Hedges and Martínez anchor FCD's backline that features both Ema Twumasi and Ryan Hollingshead as fullbacks for the second consecutive games.
