Flip the Script

After eight straight matches of starting the same back line, Dallas will now keep the same look up front while making a change at the back. Maynor Figueroa will see his second start of the season in place of Reto Ziegler, who is suspended after a red card last week. The veteran will slot in alongside Matt Hedges once again after the duo paired together in the middle for five matches during 2017. Figueroa’s previous start this season came during Week 1, playing left back while Anton Nedyalkov was injured.

Nearly Identical

With the exception of Figueroa stepping in for Ziegler, Dallas will use the same exact lineup from last week’s win over the LA Galaxy. Mauro Diaz earns his second straight start after a three-assist performance, as do goal scorers from a week ago Maxi Urruti and Roland Lamah. Kellyn Acosta and Carlos Gruezo will patrol the middle of the pitch in their second start together this season, with Santiago Mosquera seeing his fifth straight start.

Last Time Out

Just five starters in today’s lineup were starters when Vancouver last came to Frisco, taking a 4-0 win on July 29, 2017. Urruti, Diaz and Lamah were in the same roles they play today, while Matt Hedges and Carlos Gruezo are the only two from the defensive face in that match. The Whitecaps took their first-ever win in the state of Texas, starting a 10-game winless run for Dallas that all-but knocked them out of playoff contention.
