FOXBOROUGH - FC Dallas and the New England Revolution meet for the lone regular season meeting in 2018 tonight as Dallas hits the road for the first time in MLS action. After three straight games of the same Starting XI, Oscar Pareja has switched things up for #NEvFCD.
The 4-4-2
A mainstay to start the season in 2017 without Mauro Diaz, Dallas will lineup in a 4-4-2 look with Maxi Urruti and Cristian Colman up top and Roland Lamah and Michael Barrios on the flanks. Colman came on last week at home against Colorado and scored an 89th-minute equalizer with extra attacking numbers forward, so Pareja will look to double down with a second striker in Week 7. Diaz remains available off the bench for FCD.
Dallas posted a 6-4-4 record across all competitions last year when starting in a 4-4-2 formation, including a 2-1 win over the Revolution at Toyota Stadium on March 18.
Midfield Switch
Victor Ulloa will make his 2018 debut after a three bench appearances this season and a minor injury in mid March that kept him out of action in Week 2.Jacori Hayes will make his fifth consecutive start alongside him in the middle as the duo will look to win the midfield away from home and try to provide relief options from the Revs’ high press to start the attack the other way for FCD. Carlos Gruezo will miss his first start in 2018 after being subbed off in the 69th minute last weekend.
Consistency at the Back
Once again, it’ll be the same back five for Dallas for the fourth straight time having allowed the fewest goals in MLS through the opening six weeks. Jimmy Maurer makes his fifth start of the year, with Matt Hedges and Reto Ziegler in front of him, while Anton Nedyalkov and Reggie Cannon provide overlapping options from the flanks in the attack.
After making a return to the 18-man roster last week, Jesse Gonzalez did not make the weekend trip to New England and Kyle Zobeck will make his fourth gameday roster of the year.
