FC Dallas U-18 Academy blanks international sides

U-18 friendlies

FRISCO, Texas -- The FC Dallas Under-18 Academy Team wrapped up a marathon fortnight of international competition with a pair of wins over eliminated Dallas Cup Super Group teams. With the results, the FC Dallas Under-18s went 5-1-0 in six international friendlies played over the last 11 days.


FC Dallas 3, Club América 0

On Friday, March 29, FCD took on the Under-19s of Mexican side Club América, defeating them 3-0 behind goals from Bobby Edet, Danny Nevares and Yomeri Reyes.  Edet, the team’s leading scorer in Development Academy play, opened the scoring in the first half, receiving a ball from Victor Portillo before chipping the América ‘keeper.


In the second half, Nevares doubled the lead, heading in a cross from Edet. Nevares had a hand in the third goal as well, assisting on the ball that Reyes scored on to complete the 3-0 scoreline. The shutout was led by strong defensive play from center backs Vernon Bailey and Alex Dominguez while recent Homegrown signing Jesse Gonzalez and SMU-commit Caleb Underwood held down the shutout in goal.

FC Dallas 2, Toronto FC 0

In their final friendly before returning to Development Academy play, FCD battled the Toronto FC Under-19s with a little help from some old faces. Homegrown signings Victor Ulloa and Jonathan Top as well as ACC Freshman of the Year Danny Garcia joined the Under-18s to defeat TFC 2-0.


Bobby Edet scored in his second-straight game on a service from Fernando Laverde while Top put the game out of reach with a finish from the penalty spot.


With their international friendlies complete, it’s back to Development Academy play with nine games left in the lead up to the DA playoffs. The FCD Under-18s currently sit tied with the Dallas Texans for first place in the Central Conference, though FCD has two games in-hand. Their next Frontier Division match is Saturday, April 6 at noon against local rivals Andromeda.
