FC Dallas Enjoys Night Full of Milestones in 2-0 Shutout of Minnesota United FC

FRISCO - There was a lot to celebrate at Toyota Stadium on Saturday night - albeit a little more delayed than expected.

FC Dallas played to a 2-0 win over Minnesota United FC after a 154-minute rain delay as lightning and heavy rain passed through Frisco. The result was well worth the wait as Dallas got back in the win column to maintain their lead atop the Western Conference and right the ship after back-to-back losses.

"What a great performance by us. Everyone on the field was fantastic," defender Matt Hedges said. "We dominated the game the whole time - two goals, and a shutout. Everything you can ask for."

The win was the 200th all-time home victory for FC Dallas, the 119th at Toyota Stadium with 76 at the Cotton Bowl and five at Dragon Stadium in Southlake prior. History, no doubt, but a record that might've taken a back seat to the personal accolades that came with the night as well.

With the victory, Oscar Pareja became just the ninth head coach in MLS history to reach 100 wins - doing so in the third-fewest games.

"I’m very honored and happy, but you know me…I want to take it one game at a time," Pareja said. "Anyway, I would like to share this joy with you all—having been part of this project here with the club and with the team. It’s good. It’s good to win but we will put our feet on the ground and keep grinding as always."

"We come in and we play these games and we want to help Oscar with that and play our best to help him with those personal goals," Reggie Cannon said of the night. "I think the coaching staff has done a great job all throughout these years help nourish especially me, a young player coming up through the ranks and I think that they really helped give us confidence with the minutes that we need. It’s honestly a milestone night and the team is really happy."

It was also a night of history for the man who's worn the captain's armband for nearly every game since Pareja was appointed head coach in 2014. Hedges became just the third player in franchise history to play 200 games for Dallas, cementing his place among the all-time greats to play for the club.

"It still doesn’t feel any different," Hedges said. "I just go out there and do my job, but it is pretty cool to be with two other guys up there with 200 games for Dallas besides me. It’s pretty special for me, especially with the names when you look who’s up there."
