FRISCO, Texas – The FC Dallas Academy U19 team is heading to the semifinals of MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs in back-to-back seasons after defeating Real Colorado 1-0 Wednesday morning.

“Scoring early helps you manage the tempo and pace of the game,” head coach Chuy Vera said. “We were able to manage the game in our favor thanks to the early goal from Dylan (Lacy). There were lapses of the game where we increased our rhythm to get some attacking plays going. We had many chances to score goals, but one goal got the job done and we are happy with that.”

FC Dallas took the lead one minute in when Santi Ferreira set up Dylan Lacy who tucked the ball into the net and take the 1-0 lead. FC Dallas had various chances throughout the match to double the lead, including Adrian Anguiano’s shot that hit the base of the post late in the first half. Pablo Torre also attempted an acrobatic bicycle kick in the second half that went just wide.

“We are all excited,” Midfielder Dylan Lacy said. “Last year we got knocked out in the semifinal, this year we want to win it all and we will give it our all. Winning this cup would mean everything to us because we want to set the example for the guys that are moving up. We want to show them that we come here to win tournaments.”

FC Dallas is looking for revenge as the club prepares to take on New England Revolution in the semifinal once again. During the 2022 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs, New England defeated Dallas in the semifinal stage. The match will take place at field 4 of Toyota Soccer Center on Friday, June 23, at 8:30AM CT.
