Academy Update: U-18s struggle against new opponents

Academy Update: 10/31

FRISCO – The FC Dallas Academy and Pre Academy teams flip-flopped off weekends over the last two weeks; with the Pre Academy teams playing two weeks ago while the Academy teams were idle, and the Academy teams returning to action last weekend while the Pre Academy teams rested. The U-16s, U-15s, U-14s and U-13s all remained undefeated, but the U-18s were tripped up as they faced some new divisional opponents for the first time in Colorado.

FC Dallas U-18s: 2
Colorado Rush: 3

The U-18s got off to a promising start against the Colorado Rush on Saturday, as Homegrown midfielder Kellyn Acosta and forward Bobby Edet both netted goals for the fourth straight game to get FC Dallas out to a 2-0 lead within the first 15 minutes of the match. But the Rush battled back in the second half, with a goal from Eduardo Reza in the 65th minute and an equalizer from Brian Nsang in the 77th. Nsang would go on to score again in the 90th minute to earn Colorado the win at the death and hand the U-18s their first loss of the year.

FC Dallas U-18s: 1
Real Colorado: 2

The next day's game against Real Colorado followed a similar pattern. FCD jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute off a goal by Yannick Koffi and retained the lead through halftime. Ten minutes into the second half, Luan Silva scored to tie the game for Real and Nick DePuy struck in the 70th minute to secure the 2-1 win for the home side.

The pair of losses dropped the U-18s to fourth in the Frontier Division with a record of 3-2-0 behind Sporting Kansas City, Real Colorado and Solar Chelsea SC, respectively.

FC Dallas U-16s: 2
Colorado Rush: 1

The U-16s yielded more positive results than their older counterparts, although the Rush's U-16s almost mounted a late comeback of their own against FCD. Like the U-18s, the U-16s enjoyed a 2-0 lead by halftime thanks to goals from Jose Chevez and Santiago Agudelo. David Ortiz pulled one back for Colorado in the 72nd minute, but FC Dallas was able to hold on for the 2-1 win.

FC Dallas U-16s: 4
Real Colorado: 1

Sunday's match with Real Colorado wasn't quite as close. U.S. U-15 Boys National Team midfielder Coy Craft gave FCD a 2-0 lead with goals in the 9th and 51st minutes. Real cut the lead in half in the 56th minute thanks to a goal by Samuel Saenz, but Dallas put the game away with goals by Alex Radilla in the 59th minute and Antonio Aguilar in the 62nd.

The two wins kept the U-16s perfect on the season and atop the Frontier Division ahead of the 4-0-2 Sporting Kansas City.

FC Dallas U-15s: 3
Andromeda FC: 1

Two weekends ago the U-15s bested Andromeda FC 3-1 off goals from Christian Ramirez, Bernie Zuazua and Daniel Kiser. The U-15s have dropped to second in the Texas Pre Academy with a game in-hand and just one point behind the first place Houston Dynamo.

FC Dallas U-14s: 0
Andromeda FC: 0

The U-14s played Andromeda to a scoreless draw on October 21, holding the side at third place in the Texas Pre Academy with an undefeated record of 3-0-2 behind Texas Rush and Solar Chelsea SC, respectively.

FC Dallas U-13s: 6
Andromeda FC: 1

The U-13s unloaded six goals on Andromeda to remain perfect on the season. Carlitos Castillo and Carlos Garcia each scored a pair of goals, with Andy Contreras and Robert Suarez also chipping in a goal apiece in the 6-1 thrashing. The U-13s remain perched atop the Texas Pre Academy with the only unblemished record in the league.

Up Next: vs. Sporting Kansas City and vs. Classics Elite

All five teams will be back in action this Sunday when the Academy teams take on Sporting Kansas City and the Pre Academy teams host Classics Elite for the second meeting between the sides this season. The U-18s and U-16s will technically act as the home teams this weekend, as the Academy will travel to Tulsa to meet their Kansas City counterparts.
