Career Summary

Acquired

FC Dallas signed midfielder Edwin Gyasi on loan on July 1, 2019.

Professional

Gyasi began his career in the Netherlands with the AZ Alkmaar academy system before joining Dutch second-division team SC Telstar on a one-year loan. He made his senior debut on August 13, 2010 in the Eerste Divisie and scored his first professional goal on October 22, 2010 against FC Eindhoven. In total, he scored three goals and recorded one assist in 31 appearances between the Eerste Divisie and the KNVB Beker.

Gyasi signed with Eredivisie side De Graafschap where he only had one appearance with the club, his debut on March 4, 2012. He was transferred to Dutch first division side FC Twente that summer, where he made 16 appearances and scored one goal for the club in all competitions. He also debuted for Twente in international club competition in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League on July 19, 2012.

On August 7, 2013, Gyasi was transferred to Heracles Almelo where he had five appearances and later joined second-division side Roda JC for the 2014-15 season and appeared in 17 matches that season, finding the back of the net three times. He helped Roda JC defeat Emmen and NAC Breda in the 2015 Dutch play-offs to gain promotion to the Eredivisie a year after getting relegated. Gyasi played in a further 21 games for Roda in the Dutch first division before leaving the Netherlands for the first time to move to then-first-division side Aalesund FK in Norway.

He was a regular starter for the Norwegian outfit, playing in 54 matches between the Eliteserien and the NM Cupen in two seasons, netting 12 goals and contributing five assists.

Aalesund FK was relegated after Gyasi’s final season and he moved on to Bulgaria with local powerhouse CSKA Sofia. He made his debut for CSKA in the Bulgarian First League on February 23, 2018 against Cherno More. In two seasons with the club, Gyasi made 50 appearances, scored six goals and recorded 10 assists in all competitions. Gyasi was runner-up of the Bulgarian First League in both of his full seasons and helped CSKA advance to the semifinal of the Bulgarian Cup twice as well as to the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, where he made six total appearances.
