FRISCO, Texas – The next match in the FCD Rewind series is FC Dallas’s home game vs. Los Angeles FC from the 2019 season. The match will be rebroadcasted this Sunday, April 5 from 7-9 p.m. on TXA 21. If you miss the broadcast, the game will be available beginning at 8 a.m. the following Monday on fcdallas.com/OnDemand.

Here are a few reasons you should tune in to TXA 21 this Sunday at 7 for FC Dallas vs. LAFC from May 19, 2019.
Some Context
Although it’s a relatively new matchup, FC Dallas vs. LAFC has produced some exciting Western Conference showdowns in the past. This game, in particular, was unique as it came just three days after Dallas fell 2-0 to LAFC in a midweek match at Banc of California Stadium. Latin-American stars Carlos Vela and Diego Rossi both scored in that May 16 game, and Luchi Gonzalez’s men were keen to keep them quiet this time around. However, Dallas was in the midst of its longest winless run of 2019 and high-flying LAFC was probably the last team FCD wanted darkening its doorstep. The stakes were high and it all boiled down to a tense, competitive matchup in Frisco.
El Pulpo
Goalkeeper Jesse “El Pulpo” Gonzalez emerged as Dallas’ hero on the day. Faced with an LAFC attack of Vela, Rossi and Latif Blessing, Gonzalez stood strong and made five saves to contain LA’s league-leading offense. The Homegrown shot-stopper reprised his role as a penalty-saving expert and provided a platform for Dallas to earn a result despite the odds. This game is a prime example of why FC Dallas rewarded Gonzalez with a contract extension after a standout 2019 campaign.

Record Breakers
Last year’s LAFC side is in the conversation for best team in MLS history. While they didn’t lift the ultimate prize, Bob Bradley and co. broke numerous league records and waltzed to the MLS Supporters’ Shield in eye-catching fashion. And that’s without mentioning Carlos Vela. The Mexican forward had, for my money, the best individual season ever and broke the MLS scoring record with 34 goals on the year—two of which came against FC Dallas. That star power, combined with the tactical nous of their head coach, made LAFC the most dangerous side in the league. Dallas certainly had their hands full when this team came to town.
