If you’ve watched FC Dallas all season, you probably don’t think to read this article because you already know this one simple fact: Petar Musa deserves to be an MLS All-Star.
If you’re aware of that, go ahead and stop reading and vote for him plus all your favorite FC Dallas players right HERE.
But if you’re unsure, please take the following figures into account.
Petar Musa is an elite goalscorer. Through Match Week 12, the Croatia international is second in the Golden Boot race with 10 goals from 11 appearances, averaging a goal every 89 minutes he’s on the field. And with just one penalty goal to his name, Musa leads ALL of MLS with goals from open play (9).
But it isn’t just the quantity of goals, Musa is an efficient striker as well. For the third season in a row, Musa’s goal tally (10) outpaces his Expected Goals (8.42 xG) – meaning he’s scored more often than expected based on the quality of his chances. He’s an elite finisher, to put it simply.
Musa is also more than just a goalscorer and his all-around game is always improving. The 28-year-old has two assists this campaign to go with his 10 goals, putting him into a three-way tie for second most goal contributions (12) across MLS – trailing only Lionel Messi’s 13.
The graphic below, courtesy of Driblab, ranks Musa across a variety of key forward metrics. As you can see, he’s well above the 50th percentile in nearly every important area for his position and is in the 80th percentile or higher in six.

Without being any more longwinded, Petar Musa is potentially the best out-and-out striker in MLS and wholly deserves to be in this year’s All-Star Game. Help make sure he’s there by voting at mlssoccer.com/vote/.
Voting ends May 21 for this year's All-Star game, which will take place on Wednesday, July 29 against the Liga MX All-Stars at Charlotte FC's Bank of America Stadium. Note, you can vote as many times as you want until May 21 so vote early and often!
