STORY LINES

  • Match Resumption Rules: Since FC Dallas vs. St. Louis back in May was postponed after 50 minutes of play, Wednesday's game will resume in the 50th minute with the score still 0-0 and will be played until its conclusion in the 90th minute, as usual. The goal is to basically play the final 40 minutes as if there was no break at all. So, that means the match will will re-start from an FCD goal kick with the same players on the field as there were when the original game was called off. One issue, FCD's Paxton Pomykal and Sebastian Lletget were both on the field on May 6 but are now out with injuries. Per MLS rules, the injured players may be replaced only by players that were on the bench for the original game. Thankfully, those changes won't count against FCD's allotted substitutions. Paul Arriola, who's also injured, had already been replaced by Jesús Jiménez during the May 6 game so Dallas will only need to make changes for Lletget and Pomykal.
6.5 lineup
FC Dallas vs. St. Louis lineups from May 6
  • Gone (to St. Louis) but not Forgotten: Dallas fans may have noticed two familiar names in the St. Louis lineup above. Johnny Nelson and Lucas Bartlett - both former FCD defenders - are now lining up on St. Louis CITY's backline. Nelson, still just 24, was drafted by Dallas in the first round of the 2019 MLS SuperDraft and went on to feature 30 times before joining FC Cincinnati and subsequently St. Louis, where he's started 12 games so far this season. Bartlett was also an FCD first-round selection and made his club debut in the U.S. Open Cup before departing after one season with the club. The 25-year-old center back landed with St. Louis and has made nine appearances so far (including eight starts).
