Walker Zimmerman Already in the Dog House on First Valentines's Day as a Married Man

Zimmerman wedding

FRISCO – It’s Walker Zimmerman’s first Valentine’s Day as a married man, and he’s already got some making up to do to his new bride – but for good reason.

The recent USMNT call-up has spent more time away from home than in Texas during since his New Year’s Eve wedding. Just a week and a half after his big night, Zimmerman left for his first Senior National Team camp – making his debut in resounding fashion on Feb. 3rd in Chattanooga. After the game against Jamaica, he returned to Frisco for a whopping 36 hours before FC Dallas left for a 10-day preseason stint in Argentina.

“She's definitely a keeper,” he said with a smile about his wife, Sally. “She's definitely doing a great job with handling all of the adversity and all that's been going on in the last two months - especially since the wedding.”

And for Sally, it’s been a lot of adversity. Until recently, she’s lived in North Carolina – making the full move to Dallas just before the wedding. After the wedding, without the help of her husband in LA, she moved the newlywed couple’s joint belongings into their new apartment.

“Not only did the women plan the wedding and basically get your whole life together, but to do two moves and to get the apartment up and then supporting me while I'm out training…It’s unbelievable.”

While at camp, Zimmerman said he did call her every night to check on her day and offer any help he could – at least from 1,500 miles away.

“Obviously seeing if there was anything at all I could help her with because I knew she was dealing with just about everything you can think of with the move,” he said. “After Argentina it should be back to normal - well not back to normal, but should be normal.”

Once the newlyweds find their new normal, it’s safe to say Walker owes her a big night out on the town.
