Top Ten Moments of 2016 #9 - One day, four wins, two trophies

Last week, we had FCD staff and local media determine the top 10 moments of 2016 and then had you rank them over the weekend. Today, we continue the top 10 countdown with #9 and will count down each moment Monday through Friday, over the next two weeks.

With all the achievements earned by FC Dallas this season, July 16th might not be a day that initially stands out on the calendar.

However, no day in 2016 better exemplifies the philosophy and family of FC Dallas better from top to bottom.

It all started with the FC Dallas U-16s heading to Carson, California and defeating the LA Galaxy in their backyard to take home the US Soccer Development Academy National Championship.

Then, the first team hosted the Chicago Fire, defeating them in style 3-1 with Fabian Castillo pulling off one of the plays of the year with his rabona assist to Maxi Urruti.

After that, the FC Dallas Special Olympics team played their annual match at Toyota Stadium defeating the Chicago Fire 3-2 in an amazing display of skill by both teams.

Finally, the U-18s capped off a back-to-back National Championship run defeating the Vancouver Whitecaps in an unforgettable come-from-behind extra time win

It was a seven-hour marathon of FCD that ended with us all huddled around a computer screen in the office going nuts after Juanito Ramirez scored that game-winner for the U-18s. What an unforgettable day.
