When the schedule came out in January, everyone had October circled. Why? Well there are two FC Dallas vs LA Galaxy matchups in the final three games of the season producing some guaranteed drama at Toyota Stadium.
Drama has been the name of the game when FC Dallas and LA have met in the past few years as eight straight matchups including this year's LHUSOC semifinal have produced at least three goals between the two sides. LA has the 5-3-1 edge over Dallas since 2013, and the matchup has produced some very memorable games. Here are three of the best in recent years between FCD and LA.
October 12, 2014 - FC Dallas 2 LA Galaxy 1
In the first year under Oscar Pareja, FC Dallas battled hard all season and entered this late-season match against LA knowing a win would earn Pareja's side their first playoff appearance since 2011.
A dramatic late-game goal for Fabian Castillo sent a message to the rest of the league that FC Dallas was back in the post season.
August 15, 2015 - FC Dallas 1 LA Galaxy 2
The last FC Dallas home loss before Colorado earned a 1-0 result on September 10th, this match showed just how dangerous the Galaxy can be if you turn off for a second. In a match that FCD dominated on the stat sheet, Robbie Keane popped up to score twice in five minutes sending Dallas to a rare home defeat, dropped points that loomed large in the Supporters' Shield Race.
August 11, 2013 - FC Dallas 3 LA Galaxy 3
No game better displays the wild and wacky nature of FCD vs LA matchups than this barnstormer at Toyota Stadium in 2013. A Landon Donovan hat trick, plenty of goals, plenty of controversy and a nearly-game winner from a full 30 yards out off the post in stoppage time. If Saturday's match comes close to this one, we're in for a doozy.
