Among other things, Tessmann revealed the thought process behind his decision to sign with FC Dallas and forego a scholarship to play soccer and football for the Clemson Tigers.

“I had always been recruited by Clemson and grew up watching them, so I committed to play soccer and kick for football,” Tessmann said. “But then FC Dallas offered me the chance to sign a first-team contract – which, to be honest, I wasn’t expecting at the time – and I got my chances and I took it. My family and I had conversations about what would be best for me. Both options were great opportunities, but at the end of the day, it was a no-brainer to sign with FC Dallas.”

Tessmann hungout for 45 minutes and fielded questions ranging from his who his best friend is on FC Dallas, which players he looks up to, how he’s passing the time while social distancing, and even shared his favorite cheat meal: the half-baked cookie, a Tessmann family favorite.

“It’s cookie dough that you put into a bowl and then microwave for 30 seconds,” Tessmann explained. “And then you put whatever ice cream you want on it; one or two scoops—I usually do two. It’s a half-baked cookie with ice cream! I’m telling you, it’s the best dessert and I usually have it every other night, if not every night because it’s the best. It’s quick and easy and amazing: the half-baked cookie.”

If you’d like to hear other Tessmann dessert tips and much more, he hosts a YouTube podcast called ChumChat with two friends from the FC Dallas Academy.
