The following letter is the first in a series from our various FC Dallas Supporters' groups to the team leading up to the regular season finale. Today's letter was submitted by the Dallas Beer Guardians.
Almost a year ago to this date, you raised our hopes. You raised our spirits. You raised our expectations. You raised the bar. You raised a Shield.
2017 has been a rollercoaster of emotion for the entire FC Dallas community, but we have stuck together through the good and bad. This weekend is not any different. Together, we are the Hoops: circular bands used for binding, forming a framework and stabilizing this family we have.
Never forget the reason you first kicked a ball. Remember why you chose the blood, sweat, and tears over the easy way out. Know that when you walk out on the field on Sunday, the name on the crest is more than the name on your back.
Draw strength from us. We are wearing the same colors as you, feel the same pride, and share the same goal.
In this house, you are never alone.
Pelé said, “Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and, most of all, love what you do.” This is you. This is your time. This is when you shut down the noise that says you can’t do this and you can’t go on. This is when you prove everyone wrong.
Believe in yourself. Believe in your teammates. Believe in the system. Believe that you will find the way if you keep grinding away.
So here we are, a year later, here to raise your hopes, to raise your spirits, and to remind you we are still behind you - the same as we were this time last year.
We raise a glass to you, boys. This season’s not over, yet.
