PK celebration

FRISCO, Texas - With only 11 games left in the 2010 regular season, FC Dallas currently holds a 8-2-9 record, good enough for third place in the Western Conference.  With the team’s current undefeated streak going strong, FC Dallas has begun eyeing some lofty MLS records.  FCDallas.com breaks down the hot run by the numbers.

On a Hot Streak

WATCH:FC Dallas puts together a 10-game unbeaten streak

FC Dallas is on a 10-game unbeaten streak, the longest active unbeaten streak in MLS.  Earlier this season the LA Galaxy had a 12-game unbeaten streak before their first loss to Real Salt Lake.

The MLS record belongs to the Columbus Crew, who went 19 games unbeaten from the end of 2004 to the start of the 2005 season.  The LA Galaxy tied itself for second on the list with two separate 15-game undefeated streaks that spanned from 2009-2010 and 1997-1998 respectively.

Road Warriors

FC Dallas is in a three-way tie for the MLS record for road unbeaten streaks, having won or tied their last nine away games.  The other teams are the Chicago Fire, whose streak carried from the end of 2007 to the start of 2008, and the 2004 Columbus Crew.

FC Dallas will get the chance to be the lone record-holders on August 28 when they visit the Columbus Crew.  FCD is also tied with LA for most goals scored on the road this season with 13.

Root for the Home Team

FC Dallas has won their last four home games, giving the club the longest active home winning streak in MLS.  Real Salt Lake reached five earlier this season.

The all-time record belongs to the San Jose Earthquakes, who won 12 home games in a row between the 2001 and 2002 seasons.

Clutch Plays

FC Dallas have tied their MLS opponents nine times this season.  Six of those times FCD was the last team to score in order to salvage a point.  The team also pulled out a come-from-behind tie against Inter Milan in their international friendly on August 5.

FC Dallas also recently came back to defeat Philadelphia 3-1 after giving up the first goal in the ninth minute of their match on August 8.

Standings

FC Dallas is currently ranked fourth overall in the MLS standings behind the Los Angeles Galaxy, Real Salt Lake, and the Columbus Crew.  All three of those teams have played at least one more game than Dallas this season.

The Galaxy, Salt Lake and the Crew have also lost more games than FC Dallas this season.  FCD has lost a league-low two games this season while LA has lost three, Salt Lake has lost four and Columbus has lost five.

FC Dallas has also been ranked first in the ESPN Major League Soccer Power Rankings for three weeks in a row.
