FRISCO, Texas – It's thought that during a tragedy, people set aside their differences and come together in times of need. And that's exactly what Texans (and citizens across the country) are doing to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
While the full extent of Harvey's aftermath is still coming into focus, various charities have started collecting items and monetary donations to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey along Southeast Texas and the Gulf Coast region.
If you would prefer to donate items, Supporters Groups from San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston are accepting donations. Dallas Beer Guardians will be collecting items to take to Houston at their tailgate before Saturday's FC Dallas match against the Red Bulls on September 2 at Toyota Stadium.
Let's let our neighbors that we're here to help. A quick recap:
- Drop off donations Wednesday- Friday from 8 am- 5pm at the FC Dallas Front Office lobby OR at the Dallas Beer Guardians tailgate on Saturday, September 2 at Toyota Stadium.
- Monetary donations are being collected as well, or you can make a donation to the Red Cross which will directly impact those affected by Hurricane Harvey. You can donate online here or text HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
- A memorabilia auction (including a signed FC Dallas team jersey and Mauro Diaz autographed ball) is being held by various teams across the league to benefit Dynamo Charities and Corpus Christi Ice Rays. You can bid on the DASH Auction app through September 15 at 9pm. Text 'DASH'to 66866.
- Proceeds from Saturday’s 50/50 raffle during the FC Dallas vs New York Red Bulls game will benefit Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.FC Dallas will match the donation amount from the raffle (half of the overall jackpot, the other half goes to a raffle winner) to benefit relief efforts.
- Houston will host its first regular season home game away from BBVA Compass Stadium at 7 p.m. on Sunday at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. General admission tickets for the game are $20 and all proceeds will go to the American Red Cross Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.
