STANDINGS: FC Dallas Takes Sole Possession of Second After Two Wins

FRISCO – FC Dallas picked up nine points in a nine-day span and has moved into sole possession of second place in the Western Conference.


They defeated the LA Galaxy 3-2 on the road on Wednesday and followed it up with a 2-1 home win over LAFC at home on Saturday. LAFC could have made the jump to second place with a win, but now sit in fourth. FC Dallas will now prepare to face the Montreal Impact at home this Saturday.


Montreal is coming off of a 1-0 home win against Houston. They had lost their previous four matches before the win and are currently sitting in ninth place in the Eastern Conference table.

Sporting KC stayed hot in a 4-1 rout of Minnesota United FC. Wan Kuzain and Diego Rubio both scored goals off the bench for KC. They sit two points ahead of FC Dallas at the top of the table. Minnesota dropped from eighth place to ninth with the loss.


Real Salt Lake made the biggest jump in the conference, moving from ninth to third place this week. They won two home matches this week, defeating Houston and Seattle. They have now won four of five matches and are 6-1-0 at home. Houston’s two losses this week dropped them from fifth place to seventh.

After six wins a row, Portland was finally slowed down; they played a draw vs. the Galaxy on Saturday. It was the first game since April 8 where they did not pick up three points.


San Jose dropped their third consecutive match, losing 2-1 in Chicago. They have only scored two goals in that span and remain in 10th place in the conference.


Colorado remains at the bottom of the table after suffering a 2-1 loss at home vs. Vancouver. The Rapids picked up eight points in their first games of the season, but have not picked up a point since April 14, dropping their last seven matches.
