LAFC leapfrogged Sporting KC with a 4-2 over Toronto FC on Saturday to push their unbeaten run to four straight games with three wins and a draw. In turn, Sporting KC dropped to third place with a 3-1 loss to the Seattle Sounders, who climbed to fifth place with their MLS-modern-era-record eighth straight win.

Salt Lake maintained their three-point lead over the charging Sounders with a 6-2 win over the LA Galaxy, the second time in as many week's they've put up a touchdown on a Western Conference foe.

Vancouver kept their playoff hopes alive and eliminated the first team from 2018 contention with a 2-1 win over San Jose. The Quakes' mid-week win over FCD wasn't enough to offset an otherwise dreadful season that now officially has an end date of Oct. 28.

The Timbers snapped a four-game losing streak with four points over Eastern Conference opponents, first taking a 2-0 win over Toronto Wednesday at home before a 1-1 road draw in New England.

Before their trip to Dallas, Houston also dropped a 1-0 game to the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday to push them closer to the single point-per-game on the year.

Both Colorado and Minnesota enjoyed a week off in league play.
