Story Lines

Perseverance: FC Dallas heads to Seattle looking to bounce back from a disappointing week of results. Last Saturday, Dallas was defeated by Texas Derby rival Houston Dynamo 2-0, the club's first home loss to Houston since 2011. And to the victor, the spoils: El Capitán, the 18th-centrury replica cannon, will move to Houston's home ground ahead of next season and depart Toyota Stadium for the first time since 2021. Then, Dallas shifted focus to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup where they faced the New York Red Bulls at SI Stadium. Although FCD took the lead twice, the club eventually saw its cup run ended in penalties after a 2-2 draw in 120 minutes. Now, Eric Quill's team needs to rest and regroup ahead of its third game in seven days with a trip to Seattle Sounders' Lumen Field, a venue Dallas hasn't emerged victorious since 2011.

Bernie's Back: Wednesday night in New York wasn't all bad. The heartbreaking result included a silver lining: Bernard Kamungo emerged from a slump to play his best game since 2023. The 23-year-old forward scored and assisted in a performance that was reminiscent of his breakout campaign two years ago. Aside from his goal contributions, Kamungo played with confidence and swagger, dribbling through Red Bull defenders and advancing the ball. Kamungo's throwback performance vindicated Eric Quill's decision to believe in his pupil and play him into form. Now, Kamungo will look to carry the momentum into Saturday's game against the Seattle Sounders a matchup he scored in back in 2023.

Seattle: The Sounders reside in 6th place in the West with 20 points and a 5-4-5 record. Once again, they will be without former FCD captain Paul Arriola who unfortunately suffered an ACL injury earlier this season. Seattle could also be missing key figures in the form of defender Jackson Ragen and forward Jordan Morris, who both missed last week's game with hamstring injuries. Despite those potential absences, history isn't on FC Dallas' side as the club has won just once in Seattle (in 2011) and hold an ominous 1-11-4 record at Lumen Field. Still, there's always hope as Eric Quill's team have proven dangerous on the road and have earned the joint-most away points in the Western Conference.
