Story Lines

Tough Stretch: FC Dallas' home match against Western Conference frontrunners Real Salt Lake is the start of a difficult two-week stretch for the club. After playing first-place RSL, Dallas travels to California to take on both Los Angeles clubs: LA Galaxy on Wednesday and LAFC on Saturday. Both LA teams have enjoyed a strong start to the season and sit 9th and 10th in the MLS Supporters' Shield standings (4th and 5th in the West). After that two-game trip, FCD remains on the road and takes on Minnesota United - curently second in the West - at Allianz Field. Based on the standings, this two-week run will be among FCD's toughest tests of the regular season.

The Moose is Loose: While FCD enters Saturday's contest as the underdog against high-flying Real Salt Lake, the team has a not-so-secret weapon. Petar Musa (AKA The Moose) joined Dallas this offseason as the club's record signing and he's hit the ground running. The Croatian forward is FCD's leading scorer with five goals, four of which have come in his last five games. But he's not just a goal scorer. Musa also has two assists and has shown an impressive ability to hold the ball up when launched forward, allowing his teammates time to get up field and join the attack. With a week of rest under his belt (he missed FCD's midweek game after his wife gave birth Monday), Musa should be fresh and ready to go Saturday night.

RSL: Real Salt Lake is enjoying their best start to a season in a long while. The club holds the top spot in the Western Conference and their record of 8-2-4 is good for third overall in MLS, just behind FC Cincinnati and Inter Miami. What's more, Pablo Mastroeni's team is in a rich vein of form with five wins from the last six games. RSL's last defeat was way back on March 9 when they fell 2-1 at home to the Colorado Rapids. If Dallas is going end that impressive winning streak, they'll need to keep a short leash on RSL's star forward Chicho Arango, who's currently leading the MLS Golden Boot race with 13 goals (two more than Luis Suarez and Christian Benteke). Oh, and Arango also has EIGHT assists. It's safe to say the members of FCD's backline will have their work cut out for them.
