STORY LINES

  • Back-to-Back Midweek Matches: If you feel like there's been a lot of FC Dallas soccer recently, you'd be right. Dallas is halfway through a run of seven games in 21 days and will be play its second midweek match in a row in Philadelphia on Wednesday. The club was successful in its previous midweek game, earning a 3-1 comeback win over Real Salt Lake last Wednesday. Another positive result (win or draw) this time around would likely please head coach Nico Estévez considering his team will turn around to face rivals Houston Dynamo just three days later.
  • Obrian on Fire: Forward Jáder Obrian has been back in the goals in recent weeks. The Colombian netted his third of the season to earn his team a 1-1 draw with the Seattle Sounders on Sept. 17 before scoring the equalizer against the Columbus Crew last time out. The goals came on either side of his two-assist performance on the road in Dallas' 3-1 win over Real Salt Lake one week ago. Obrian's improved production in front of goal has been a key development as FCD tries to reignite its attack over this final stretch.
  • Against Philly: The Philadelphia Union has proved in recent years that it's not impossible to enjoy sustained success in MLS. Philly has finished top three in the East in each of the last four seasons, a run that includes two first-place regular season finishes (2020 and 2022). It's an impressive run from head coach Jim Curtain and co., who currently sit fourth in their conference. Still, Dallas was able to get the best of his side last year, earning a 1-0 win over Philly thanks to an excellent goal from Jesús Ferreira in Frisco (below). Now, FCD will try to repeat the trick at Subaru Park, a venue where the Union has lost just once all year.
