Story Lines
Never Say Die: FC Dallas is once again looking to build momentum after a major comeback result. During Wednesday night's match in Cincinnati, Dallas trailed twice (they went 2-0 down before fighting back to make it 2-2 but conceded a third goal with four minutes remaining) but still managed to salvage a 3-3 draw thanks to a last-minute Sebastien Ibeagha header. That result was right in line with the theme of the season: FC Dallas has now earned 13 points from losing positions in 2025. To put that into context, 82% of the club's points this year have been earned in comeback games. Obviously, that stat is both good and bad. On one hand, Eric Quill has successfully instilled a commendable never-say-die attitude within his team. On the other, the club clearly has an issue starting games on the front foot. If Dallas can marry that fighting mentality with more intense starts to games, they'll soon find themselves above the playoff line. Their first chance to do so is this Saturday against the Philadelphia Union, the top team in the Eastern Conference.
Super Sub: Midfielder Pedrinho continues to perform a crucial service off the bench for FC Dallas. The 22-year-old Brazilian signed with the club this offseason after a stellar 2024 campaign with North Texas SC and has quickly made his mark. Pedrinho has recorded six goal contributions (2 goals, 4 assists), five of which have come off the bench. His only goal contribution as a starter came when he scored against Colorado Rapids in the second game of the season back on March 1. Although Pedrinho's form could warrant a place in Quill's Starting XI, his effectiveness as a super sub late in games could mean keep him on the bench for the foreseeable future.
Philly: The Union are enjoying a fantastic start to 2025. Led by first-year head coach Bradley Carnell, Philadelphia sit in first place in both the Eastern Conference and MLS Supporters' Shield standings. The Union are currently flying on an eight-game unbeaten run (their last loss was to NYCFC on April 12) and have six wins and two draws in that span. Carnell's men are coming off a 2-1 road win at Toronto, a result that brought their away record to five wins and two losses. Considering the Union have also scored the most goals in MLS (32), Dallas and their backline are going to have their hands full against the league-leaders this Saturday. On the other hand, history is on FCD's side: Dallas are unbeaten against Philadelphia at Toyota Stadium with a 7-0-1 all-time record in Frisco.
