STORY LINES

Hey Now, You're an All-Star
The stars will be on show Wednesday night as FC Dallas returns home to Toyota Stadium to take on current MLS champs New York City FC. The roster for the 2022 MLS All-Star game was recently announced and it includes five players from FC Dallas and New York City: Jesús Ferreira (FCD), Paul Arriola (FCD), Taty Castellanos (NYC), Alex Callens (NYC) and Sean Johnson (NYC). While Castellanos won't be in attendance (more on that below), the other four have more than enough talent to light up the night.

Notable Absences
FC Dallas will be without some notable names following its spicy Texas Derby draw against Houston last Saturday. Defender Marco Farfan and midfielder Facundo Quignon are both suspended due to yellow card accumulation (they each picked up their fifth caution of the season in Houston) while Homegrown Brandon Servania saw a red card in the latter stages of Saturday's heated Derby. On the other side, the league's current top scorer Taty Castellanos is unavailable for NYCFC with a yellow card accumulation suspension of his own.

Dog Days of Summer
Dallas' player absences weren't the only fallout from the weekend's Derby. Saturday's 2-2 draw with Houston kicked off with a 112 degree heat index at field level at PNC Stadium and lasted nearly two hours (the final whistle sounded in the 115th minute after an action-packed stoppage time period). Now with a midweek match just four days later (in what will likely be triple-digit heat again) and another Texas rivalry match the following Saturday, head coach Nico Estévez will need to be very thoughtful in how he manages his squad and their minutes. On the flip side, FCD is without a win in its last five games so three points will be absolutely vital.
