STORY LINES

Home Again
FC Dallas is back at Toyota Stadium after a week-long, two-game road trip. Nico Estévez's team began the trip in impressive fashion with a 3-1 win over the LA Galaxy, then sitting in third place in the Western Conference. Jesús Ferreira's first-half brace made him MLS's top scorer and bumped Dallas into second place. FC Dallas' second stop was decidedly less eye catching as the team fell 2-1 to Vancouver Whitecaps FC after Lucas Cavallini's stoppage-time penalty completed the comeback. It's a setback, for sure, but let's put some context around it: the loss was just Dallas' second of the year and it ended the club's league-leading nine-game unbeaten run. Unexpected losses happen in this league, especially on the road. FCD is still in third place and comfortably in the postseason race with a seven-point advantage over Colorado and Houston hovering just above and below the playoff line. Sunday's matchup with Minnesota United offers Dallas the chance to recapture the form that propelled Estevez's men into second place in MLSsoccer.com's Power Rankings at the start of the week.

Nico Estévez: “It was a great experience for the team and the staff being out there on the road for this long. We will see when we come back who is available and good to go after missing this trip. We will prepare the best way possible to get the three points at home against Minnesota United. This has been overall a great experience for us, we will use this for when we go on another lengthy road trip again. We will use this to prepare them better for future road games.

Dynamic Duo
Forwards Jesús Ferreira and Paul Arriola have been carrying the bulk of Dallas' offensive threat in the last few games. The pair have scored FCD's last six goals together and have accounted for 13 of the team's 20 goals so far this campaign. Overall, Ferreira and Arriola have 17 goals contributions on the year: Ferreira with 9 goals and 2 assists and Arriola with 4 goals plus assists. The connection began during their time with the U.S. Men's National Team and the two have only improved their on-field chemistry since uniting in Dallas. Ferreira and Arriola will look to increase their tallies against a Minnesota defense that has conceded four goals over the last two outings.

The Loons
Minnesota United started the season brightly with eight points from its first four games but has slipped into inconsistent form since. Two losses to Seattle and Austin were followed by back-to-back wins over Colorado and Chicago, but the Loons have since gone on a four-game winless run that included three losses in a row. Most recently, Adrian Heath's team earned a respectable 1-1 home draw against the LA Galaxy. Dallas has never lost to Minnesota at Toyota Stadium but the team will need to limit the influence of playmaker Emmanuel Reynoso (2 goals, 3 assists) and goal-scoring midfielder Robin Lod (5 goals, 1 assist) to maintain that streak on Sunday evening.
