STORY LINES

  • Bounce Back: FC Dallas is looking to bounce back after a disappointing home defeat to D.C. United on the Fourth of July. Thankfully, FCD doesn't have to look too far back for inspiration. The club toppled reigning champs LAFC last Saturday thanks to goals from Bernard Kamungo and Sam Junqua. Seven days later, Dallas looks to replicate its LAFC performance on the road, which is always easier said than done (especially at altitude in Colorado). The club's last road win was in mid May so Nico Estévez's team is thirsting for another three-point trip. This weekend's trip to Dick's Sporting Goods Park might just be the ticket.
  • Reinforcement: Dallas's frontline received some much-needed reinforcement this week with the news that Homegrown Dante Sealy is eligible to play following the opening of MLS's summer transfer window. The 20-year-old winger is back after completing his two-year loan spell to PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands and is in the squad bound for Colorado. While it's been two years since he last donned an FCD jersey, Sealy's talent is undeniable and it comes at a crucial time with Paul Arriola still a few weeks away. Like to old adage goes, Sealy's return could "be like a new signing".
  • The Rapids: Let's be honest, it hasn't been a fun 2023 for the Colorado Rapids. The fellow MLS originals sit bottom of the Western Conference with a 2-10-8 record and the lowest Points Per Game (PPG) in MLS: 0.7. They're also the only team in the league that hasn't won a game at home this season. Yep, the Rapids are 0-4-5 at Dick's Sporting Good's Park. It's not a flattering record but it's important to remember that Dallas has historically struggled in Colorado. FCD's last win at Dick's was back in 2014 and the club hasn't even earned a point there since 2018. But, if there was ever a time to break that unfortunate streak, it's Saturday night.
