FC Dallas head coach Luchi Gonzalez

Thoughts on the match…

They made plays and we didn't in the box. You can do the counts of possession and the stats, but they made plays in the box. Attacking wise and defensively we didn't make enough so the results are going to be going our way. I think that's the reality at this point for us as a team. It’s those crucial moments of attacking and defending the box where we got to be better. We need to do better.

On the positives of tonight…

We responded well in the second half but conceding that third goal knocked the wind out of us. There was a point where it felt like it would be difficult to come back. Credit to the boys who didn’t stop fighting till the final whistle, and the ones who come off the bench with energy like [Szabolcs] Shön, [Franco] Jara, and Facundo [Quignon]. They tried to help us push forward and tried to make a comeback. I do appreciate their efforts when they came off the bench.

FC Dallas defender Nkosi Tafari
On the locker room conversation after the match…

Mostly just things we need to work on. It would be abnormal of us to not try to fix things with the current record and situation that we're in, but I'll probably keep it at that for the teams sake. Mostly talking about things that we need to work on going forward. We can't really change the past or anything of that nature. You can only affect the present and the games coming up. We can only focus on Portland right about now, so we are well aware of how we play on the road and we are well aware that we have more games on the road before we come home.

FC Dallas midfielder Edwin Cerrillo
On making his first start of the season...
It gave me a lot of flashbacks from the times when I was playing and getting the starts. I wasn’t as nervous as the first time but overall I was more excited than nervous. I had a lot of confidence. I’ve been working hard. It wasn’t an ideal result and for me that’s the most important thing, putting the team first. If I had to take something positive is that I worked hard and kept that mentality to earn the start today.
