POWER RANKINGS: Week 26 MLS Roundup

FRISCO – We’re in the single digits in regular season games remaining for FC Dallas. They'll be out for revenge on Wednesday as they face the San Jose Earthquakes, the team that handed Dallas its only home loss of 2018 less than four weeks ago.

FC Dallas played to a 1-1 draw last Thursday against the Houston Dynamo, who they'll face again this coming Saturday in the final leg of the Texas Derby. San Jose dropped a 2-0 result to Vancouver on Saturday.

Here’s where FC Dallas and the Quakes landed in the latest MLS power rankings roundup.

1. Atlanta United FC (no change)
2. New York Red Bulls (no change)
3. Sporting Kansas City (no change)
4. FC Dallas (no change) - Dallas remain atop the Western Conference, however, although their derby draw was a bit disappointing, if a typical Texas Derby match. Could new signing Abel Aguilar settle in quickly and help them keep hold of first place in the West?
5. New York City FC (no change)
23. San Jose (-1) - San Jose end up back in the basement after a 9-minute capitulation to Vancouver overturned a 2-0 lead. It's just not working out for the Quakes in 2018.

1. Atlanta United (no change)
2. New York Red Bulls (no change)
3. FC Dallas (no change) - Thursday night's draw with the Dynamo ensures that FC Dallas will stay atop the Western Conference headed into Week 27. Road points will do fine for Oscar Pareja's team as it works to lock down a first-round bye while integrating new pieces like Pablo Aranguiz.
4. Sporting Kansas City (+1)
5. New York City FC (-1)
23. San Jose (-1) - TheQuakes had a two-goal lead at home against a less-than-irresistible attacking team in Vancouver and still managed to lose the lead and the game. The Wooden Spoon, and perhaps yet another change of regime, looms in San Jose's future.

3. FC Dallas (no change) - FCD thought it would get out of Houston with three points after Michael Barrios' goal in the 83rd minute, but a Dynamo equalizer five minutes later cost two precious points. Its lead over Sporting KC in the race for the Western Conference lead is down to one point.
4. New York City FC (no change)
5. LAFC (no change)
23. San Jose (no change) - The Quakes hit bottom, blowing a 2-0 lead at home, where they haven't won in 11 games. “Devastating” is how Chris Wondolowski put it. “I don’t think words can quite describe it right now," he added. "Just a gut punch.”
