FRISCO — Two wins in four days against LA Galaxy (5-7-2, 17 points) and Los Angeles FC (6-4-3, 21 points) this past week saw FC Dallas rise to second place with 26 points, just two behind Sporting KC in the Western Conference.
Now, the attention turns to the Montreal Impact (4-10-0, 12 points) on Saturday at Toyota Stadium. Dallas will once again make a push for first place in the Western Conference and still remain as the only side with just one loss on the season.
Here’s where both FC Dallas and Montreal landed in this week’s power rankings.

1. Atlanta United (+1)
2. Sporting KC (+1)
3. New York Red Bulls (-1)
4. Columbus Crew SC (no change)
5. FC Dallas (+3) — Six points in a week has FC Dallas at the top of the Western Conference standings, riding a six-game unbeaten run and a three-game winning streak. Even more impressive, FCD’s streak came in three games during an eight-day span.
19. Montreal Impact (+3) — Head coach Remi Garde called his team out after a loss in Minnesota last week. Whether it was that public criticism or a weakened Houston lineup (or both) that led to the win on Saturday, three points will go a long way toward salving wounds.

1. Atlanta United (+2)
2. Sporting KC (+2)
3. Columbus Crew SC (-1)
4. New York Red Bulls (-3)
5. New York City FC (+1)
6. FC Dallas (+2) — FC Dallas had the joint-best week in MLS, with two wins in a sweep over the Angeleno sides. Considering they've only lost one league game in 13 this year, is (practically) everyone still sleeping on Oscar Pareja's team?
21. Montreal Impact (+2) — After falling to the bottom of the Power Rankings, the Impact posted a win. They still lead the league in losses, however, and will need to get a few more wins in quick succession to have a hope of reigniting their campaign.
1. Sporting KC (no change)
2. Atlanta United (+2)
3. Portland Timbers (no change)
4. Columbus Crew SC (+2)
5. FC Dallas (+4) — FCD is spreading the wealth to good effect. Against the Galaxy, Ryan Hollingshead scored his first goal in nearly two years and assisted on one by Cristian Colman. Hollingshead also assisted on Roland Lamah’s winner in the LAFC game. Reto Ziegler had opened the scoring with his first MLS goal. FCD has won three in a row and four of its last six.
21. Montreal Impact (+2) — A beautiful shot off the foot of Jeisson Vargas into the top corner and an improved defensive display ended the Impact’s four-game losing streak.
