Petar Musa became the first active FC Dallas player to score at a FIFA World Cup when he volleyed home Croatia's second goal in a 4-2 loss against England Wednesday afternoon at Dallas Stadium in Arlington.

Musa started the game to become the third FCD player to see the field at a World Cup after Deedson (Haiti/2026) and Jesús Ferreira (USA/2022). Croatia fell behind after just 12 minutes via a Harry Kane penalty kick but equalized through Martin Baturina in the 36th minute. Kane gave England a second lead six minutes later when he headed in a corner kick from 12 yards out.

With just seconds remaining in the first half, Musa had his moment. A floated ball over the top found veteran Ivan Perisic who nodded it backwards into Musa's path. The 28-year-old Dallas star met it with a first-time volley, knocking it downwards past England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and into the net.

Musa departed the game in the 66th minute with Croatia trailing 3-2 to make way for forward Igor Matanovic. But England began piling on more pressure, eventually running out 4-2 winners in the opening game of Group L.

Musa's goal was the second of his international career having scored in Croatia's penultimate match of World Cup qualifying against the Faroe Islands last November. In total, Musa has scored 13 goals in 2026 across all competitions for Croatia and FC Dallas.

As they continue their group stage campaign, Musa and Croatia square off against Panama on Tuesday, June 23 in Toronto before facing Ghana on Saturday, June 27 in Philadelphia.
