Both defenders are former FC Dallas Academy players
FRISCO - North Texas Soccer Club has signed former FC Dallas Academy players Hector Montalvo and Cesar Murillo to one-year contracts with options for the 2020 season, pending league and U.S. Soccer Federation approval.
Montalvo, 21, joined the FC Dallas Academy at age 15 and was part of the U-18 Academy team that won the U.S. Soccer Development Academy National Championship in 2016. After two years with Dallas, Montalvo played one season at Grand Canyon University before moving to Mexico to join Tigres UANL’s U-20 team.
“Hector is a fiery competitor,” North Texas SC head coach Eric Quill said. “He’s a leader, and he’s a right-sided center back, which is a need of ours right now. He’s going to come in and provide us depth in the back line. He’s worked extremely hard and deserves what he’s earned, I’m looking forward to seeing his progression over the year.”
Murillo, 23, played four seasons with the FC Dallas Academy beginning in 2011. After his time with the Academy, he accepted a scholarship to play at the College of Charleston. Murillo captained the Cougars in each of his four seasons, playing 66 games and being selected for the All-CAA Second Team in 2015. He graduated in 2018 with a degree in accounting.
“Cesar is a versatile backline player,” head coach Quill said. “We can use him at any position on the backline, which we plan to do. He’s another great leader in the locker room. You couldn’t ask to have a better connector to the guys and making sure everybody’s prepared and ready to go battle on the field.”
Montalvo and Murillo are the 34th and 35th Academy products signed to professional contracts by the FC Dallas organization.
