There was plenty to talk about this week as far as the media was concerned, especially considering that two FC Dallas players were called into U.S. Men’s National Team camp; the team took the lead in Group C of CONCACAF Champions League play; and then mounted a dramatic come-from-behind win on the road in Kansas City.




Saturday, August 20: Daniel Hernandez on the radio (KTBB-FM/AM)


FC Dallas captain Daniel Hernandez was visited by his hometown radio station KTBB-FM/AM Radio from Tyler, Texas the weekend of August 20. Sports Producer Mike Alazmora conducted interviews in both Spanish and English covering FC Dallas’ 1-0 loss to the Seattle Sounders, FC Dallas’ 1-0 win over Pumas UNAM in CONCACAF Champions League play and the importance of picking up points during the team’s current nine-game road trip.

Wednesday, August 24: David Ferreira Q&A (Dallas Morning News)


Reigning MLS MVP David Ferreira recently sat down with Dallas Morning News reporter Andy Friedlander to talk about his progress in returning to the pitch after suffering an ankle injury in the club’s April 23 match against Vancouver. The article discusses the reason for Ferreira’s new look and examines the timeline for his return. It also includes quotes from FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman, who talks about his concerns in bringing the league MVP back too quickly and Ferreira’s thoughts on watching FC Dallas win regardless of his absence.

Wednesday, August 25: FC Dallas in the New York Times – twice (NY Times soccer blog)


FC Dallas was a prominent topic of discussion in Goal, the New York Times soccer blog, twice in one day last week. It began with an update on FC Dallas’ bizarre trip to Toronto for CONCACAF Champions League play, using the tagline, “In Toronto, Let’s Play One and a Half!”

FC Dallas made it back into the blog only a few short hours later after the U.S. Men’s National Team roster was released. Regarding the call-ups of young FCD players Brek Shea and
Zach Loyd
, the NY Times blog noted that Dallas was one of only two MLS sides to place two on the team (New York is the other).

Thursday, August 26: Jersey sponsor update (Dallas Business Journal)


FC Dallas president and CEO Doug Quinn tells the Dallas Business Journal in this article that getting a jersey deal done is “only a matter of time.” According to the DBJ piece, the sponsorship is valued at $3.2 million per year and is a top priority for the organization.
