#MLSisBack | FC Dallas exorcised StubHub Center demons in 2016

Shield LA

Since the inception of the franchise in 1996, trips to Los Angeles have never really treated FC Dallas well. That went to another level in the early part of the decade.

After winning the 2010 Western Conference Final, FCD hit a slump in the City of Angels that's about as bad as you can get going 0-6-1 over eight games from 2011 through 2015 while being outscored 15-6.

That all changed last year.

The streak everyone wants to talk about ending last season was the 19-year trophy drought, but to do that FC Dallas ended a six-year winless streak at the StubHub Center dating back to the start of the 2011 season with their dramatic Open Cup semifinal comeback win.

FC Dallas followed that up by going to the StubHub Center on the final day of the 2016 regular season needing at least a draw to secure the club's first-ever Supporters' Shield and that's exactly what they got lifting the trophy on the ground of one of their biggest rivals.

As FC Dallas heads to LA to open the 2017 MLS regular season on Saturday (3:00PM, Univision), the pressure will not be similar to those two games, but they can get the season started off right securing what would be the first regular season win in Los Angeles since a wild 6-3 triumph on September 12, 2009.
