FRISCO - North Texas SC bounces back to defeat FC Tucson 1-0 courtesy of a first-half goal from top scorer Ronaldo Damus.
Game Summary
First Half:
- 3’ – Cristian Colmán hit a volley from right inside the box, but it was straight at Carlos Merancio.
- 15’ – Devyn Jambga rose well and made good contact but his header went high and wide.
- 24’ – Arturo Rodriguez beat his man and played a dangerous ball in but Lamar Batista go to the ball just in time to clear.
- 25’ – Jamael Cox was left alone from 12 yards after a knockdown by Jordan Jones, but Carlos Avilez showed superb reactions to parry the shot away.
- 35’ – Jamael Cox found the ball at his feet after a deflected cross but with an open goal he couldn’t find the target.
- 39’ – Kevin Bonilla strode down the wing and crossed to Ronaldo Damus, who swiveled and banged it into the far corner, giving North Texas a 1-0 lead.
Second Half:
- 52’ – Ronaldo Damus got on the end of a bad back header but was muscled off the ball while through on goal by Kyle Venter.
- 61’ – A wonderful 50-yard pass by Thomas Roberts found Cristian Colman who could only blast over.
- 65’ – A long run by Thomas Roberts resulted in a weak shot right at Carlos Merancio.
- 78’ – Some one touch passing set up Arturo Rodriguez on the edge of the area but the shot was deflected.
- 79’ – From the ensuing corner, Ronaldo Damus lashed a volley from 10 yards wide.
- 83’ – Tanner Tessmann carried the ball 30-yards before smashing a shot off the crossbar.
