SEATTLE, Washington (Wednesday, July 13) – FC Dallas (11-6-4, 37 points) wrapped up its two-game road trip, losing 5-0 to Seattle Sounders FC tonight at CenturyLink Field.

The team returns home for its match against Chicago this Saturday, July 16, at Toyota Stadium.

MATCH RECAP: FC Dallas 0, Seattle Sounders FC 5 -

FC Dallas was issued a red card in just the fourth minute of the match, when Seattle’s Andreas Ivanschitz took a shot from close range and defender Maynor Figueroa was judged by referee Ricardo Salazar, to have denied a goal-scoring opportunity with his left hand.

The ejection reduced Dallas to 10 men for the remaining 84 minutes of the match and Clint Dempsey ended the club’s shutout streak at 321 minutes when the U.S. National Team forward buried the ensuing penalty kick, high to the left side of goalkeeper Chris Seitz.

Ivanschitz burned FC Dallas again in the 18th minute when he stepped inside Atiba Harris to win a long pass that was played in from midfield by Osvaldo Alonso.

Jordan Morris made it 3-0 in the 22nd minute when Dempsey played him in on goal to the left side of Seitz. Morris took a touch and ripped a right-footed shot to the back post.

Salazar evened things up when Dempsey and Juan Esteban Oritz came together on Dallas’ right flank in the 33rd minute. Oritz was issued a caution for stepping onto Dempsey but the Seattle forward retaliated and was sent off for getting his hands up onto the face of the FC Dallas midfielder.

With the teams back on level terms, Dallas was able to increase its possession numbers but still could not trouble Sounders FC goalkeeper Stefan Frei. The sides nearly went into halftime with four goals separating them, but Seitz made an outstanding save, diving to his right side to block a shot by Morris seconds before the halftime whistle.

Seattle made it 4-0 in the 61st minute when O’Neil Fisher cut into the middle of the field and picked out defender Joevin Jones, who was making a late run down the left flank. Jones teed up his shot and struck a hard, right-footed blast that caught a piece of Harris on its way through the area. The deflection crossed up Seitz before slipping into the back of the net.

An FC Dallas defender lost his man on a free kick for Sounders FC in the 73rd minute. Ivanschitz took advantage of the error, playing a cross into Cristian Roldan at the top of the six yard box. The 21-year-old headed home the first goal of his career, beating Seitz just inside the post to the goalkeeper’s left side, to make it 5-0.
