FRISCO - Fans will never experience Toyota Stadium the same way again.
Everyone knows about the changes coming with the National Soccer Hall of Fame Museum in 2018, but some of the other upgrades and renovations around the building are taking place this very offseason. The largest of which – at least for the fan base at large – is the first stage of an overhaul to the audio and video systems across the entire venue.
Just days after the final whistle on FC Dallas’ 2016 season, crews went to work installing a brand new speaker system hanging from the stage covering, while a new system is being installed to provide sound on the North concourse as well.
The new audio system, once completed ahead of the NCAA FCS Championship game in January, will provide a more dynamic and clear sound across the entire stadium with the ability to boost levels and lower levels across different sections to provide a consistent game and event experience from every seat in the stadium. The volume capability and clarity of the new system will be near identical to that of concerts and past NCAA FCS Championship games held at the stadium.
“The audio overhaul already under way will completely change the game and event experience at Toyota Stadium,” said Alan Ficek, Director of Event Presentation. “In the past, all of the audio in the stadium has come from speakers on the West side, but with added speakers on the North side, we’ll be able to get quality sound to every corner of the stadium.”

On the video side, the two video boards in the corners along either side of the stage will be taken out to make room for new, larger and clearer boards taking their place. The two, new HD boards will occupy the entirety of both north corners and eliminating the static advertising boards, effectively doubling the real estate of the old boards. The clarity of each board will also taking a major upgrade and the HD overhaul will increase the brightness of each screen, allowing the boards to be seen at all times of the day – including under the glaring Texas summer sun.
This first phase of video upgrades, which will be in place for Opening Day 2017, are the first major upgrades to the video boards since the stadium opened in 2005.
“We couldn’t be more excited about all the upgrades to the stadium,” said Sr. Director of Marketing and Event Presentation Robert Rardin. “On the video side specifically this will provide us with the opportunity to do next-level multimedia content and graphics for the fans that we haven’t been able to do in the past.”
Additionally, with the completion of the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2018, two additional video boards will be added along the façade of the new construction, expanding the digital footprint within the stadium.
These are not the only changes coming to Toyota Stadium this offseason either! Be sure to stay tuned to learn about more coming for in time 2017 in the near future.
