FRISCO, Texas (Aug. 17, 2026) – Defender Lalas Abubakar has been named to MLSsoccer.com Team of the Matchday, presented by Audi, for Matchday 20. The honor marks Abubakar’s first Team of the Matchday Starting XI selection of the season.
Abubakar scored his first goal of the season with a header in the first-half stoppage time to give FC Dallas a 1-0 lead over Austin FC. The center back completed a team-high 33 passes in the victory.Â
The Kumasi, Ghana, native previously earned Team of the Matchday honors on Aug. 11, 2025 after scoring a goal in FC Dallas’ 2-0 shutout win over the Portland Timbers.Â
Current MLS Golden Boot leader Petar Musa was also named to MLSsoccer.com Team of the Matchday bench after scoring the game-winning goal in Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Austin FC.
